Adding and removing custom folder properties
You can add custom properties to a folder type similar to the way you can add custom properties to document types. The properties will appear on the folder's property page in the detail view. The custom properties must exist before you can add them. For more information about custom properties, see About custom properties.
Tip Once you have opened a folder type's custom properties page, you can add and remove custom properties for other folder types without returning to the folder types list page. Simply select an existing folder type from the list on the property page, if necessary, and click the appropriate button.
Note The Default custom properties list on the folder type's custom properties page lists the custom folder properties that have been added by default for all folders in the workspace.
To add custom properties to a folder type:
- In the Settings view, expand the name of the workspace in which you want to edit the folder type, expand Folder properties, and click Folder types. A page listing the existing folder types appears.
- On the Actions menu of the folder type to which you want to add custom properties, click Edit custom properties. A page showing the folder type's current custom property options appears.
- Select custom properties from the Available custom properties list that you want to add to the current folder type. To select multiple custom properties, press and hold the Ctrl key while clicking custom property names. To select a range of custom properties, select the custom property in the range and then press and hold the Shift key while selecting the last custom property in the range.
- Click Add custom properties. The properties disappear from the Available custom properties list and appear in the Included custom properties list.
To remove custom properties to a folder type:
- In the Settings view, expand the name of the workspace in which you want to edit the folder type, expand Folder properties, and click Folder types. A page listing the existing folder types appears.
- On the Actions menu of the folder type to which you want to remove custom properties, click Edit custom properties. A page showing the folder type's current custom property options appears.
- Select custom properties from the Included custom properties list that you want to remove from the current folder type. To select multiple custom properties, press and hold the Ctrl key while clicking custom property names. To select a range of custom properties, select the custom property in the range and then press and hold the Shift key while selecting the last custom property in the range.
- Click Remove custom properties. The properties disappear from the Included custom properties list and appear in the Available custom properties list.
